PDL Mustang II was a feature of the event and Todd Stewart of Christchurch showed its pace on Sunday in particular, winning both Classic Saloon races for cars 2501cc & over. Earlier the car suffered gearbox problems, missing the first race on Saturday which was won by Invercargill driver Brendan Mason in his Camaro. The car started the second race from the back of the grid, coming through to sixth place in a handicap race won by Graeme Fraser of Queenstown in a BMW M3 Evo.

The appearance of two-time World Touring Car Champion Paul Radisich of New Zealand in his World Championship winning Ford Mondeo Super Tourer was a highlight of the Historic Touring Car Class, Radisich qualifying third and finishing second to Phil Mauger of Christchurch (Nissan Primera) in the opening race. Other commitments meant Radisich was a non-starter in the other races, Mauger winning one of those and Bruce Miles of Christchurch in a BMW winning twice on Sunday.

Jordan Michels of Invercargill had a clean sweep in the Formula Ford races with fellow Southlander Stephen Heffernan, Phil Foulkes of Clevedon and Australian Lyndon Arnel the placegetters across the weekend.

Darryn Clarke of Queenstown in a Toyota Starlet won two of the four 0-2500cc Classic Saloon races while other wins went to Scott O’Donnell of Invercargill in an Alfa and Sandra Eden of Queenstown (BMW) in the handicap race.

Gary Cooper of Mosgiel took his Reynard to three wins in Formula Libre dropping the lap record twice in the process. Southlander Brendon Leitch won the last in the ex-Jacques Laffitte Ralt after Cooper incurred a ten second penalty.

Canadian Jack Ondrack in his TVR Tuscan took all four Sports Car races with Trevor Lines of Auckland (Redline Sprint), Jason Crosbie of Invercargill (Beck Special) and David Robertson of Invercargill (Ace Buckler) sharing the placings.

Paul Coory of Mosgiel won both of Saturday’s Vintage Racing Car races from Graeme Hamilton of Lyttleton while Hamilton won both of Sunday’s races after Coory received a ten second penalty in one and did not start the other.

Paul Clarke of Dunedin in a Mustang won three of the four Pre 65 Saloon races with the other victory going to Wallacetown driver John Mackley in a Ford Anglia in a handicap race.

Liam MacDonald of Invercargill won four Noel McIntyre Drainage Clubmans Saloon races including the Flying Farewell.

The next race meeting at Teretonga Park takes place on Saturday 17 March.
