The 50m section of the Pyramid bridge that broke off late Friday morning has been located. Its size and weight ensured the section didn’t travel too far downstream, only about 50 to 60 metres in fact. We have barriers in place at the bridge and detour maps will be put up. Our focus now is working with the Otama rural water supply scheme committee to ensure farmers and other scheme users have water. For more info go to goredc.govt.nz

Otama rural water supply scheme users have been asked to conserve water for domestic and stock use immediately. It will be at least seven days before the water supply will be restored after the main pipeline was destroyed with the collapse of the Pyramid Bridge today. A water tanker will be stationed at the Otama hall from 11.00am tomorrow (Saturday) for people wanting drinking water. We know this will be a stressful time for everyone so we urge scheme users to check on their neighbours or contact us if they have any concerns.
