The Southland Sports Car Club held its annual marshall training day at Teretonga Park, Invercargill on Saturday 24 August.
Forty marshalls attended the day which covered a variety of topics including first aid, stabilisation of vehicles, flag waving, report writing, the season calendar plus discussion on the volunteer handbook and Team Reach.
An app which provides a central point for volunteers to gain information and communicate regarding details such as when they need to be on site, who is available for events etc.
Motorsport NZ Board Members Wayne Christie, Nick Hamlin and Elton Goonan paid a visit to the circuit during the day and thanked the volunteers for their contribution to the sport.
The club is also keen to hear from any else who may be interested in volunteering to assist at events at Teretonga Park.
The club also wishes to thank Blackwoods Paykel for contributing food for the lunchtime bbq, Jude MacDonald and Wendy Jenks for operating the bbq and Les Costigan and Malcolm Mitchell for their assistance on the day.
The first motor race event at Teretonga Park for the 2019/2020 season is the annual Carter’s Tyre Service South Island Endurance Series round on Saturday 21 September.
