Update: The man on the run from Invercargill police has been arrested after an extensive search using dogs and a helicopter.
Police are searching on foot with police dogs for a man in the Phillip Street area. and have a helicopter in the air searching too.
The wanted man in failed to stop for police and then led them on a short pursuit before abandoning his car.
A police communications spokeswoman said police had received information about the location of a man who had a warrant to arrest.
Police attempted to stop the man as he was travelling along North Rd, but he did not stop when police signalled for him to pull over, the spokeswoman said.
