A 26-year-old man was arrested early on Saturday morning after allegedly doing a number of burglaries in the Central Southland areas of Benmore and South Hillend.

The man has now been charged with multiple offences including burglary and unlawfully taking a motor vehicle.

He made an initial court appearance in the Invercargill District Court on Saturday and is set to reappear on 30 June, 2022.

He has been remanded in custody.

Police would like to thank the local community who assisted Police by providing information which led to the man’s arrest.

Police are also asking for anyone in the Benmore area who may have noticed their farm fences or gates were damaged to get in touch with Police via 105 and quote file number 220612/0719.
