I had some time up my sleeve over the weekend so I went drives to get a few pics of what’s going on, and there is plenty.

Apart from the big ticket items like The Langlands Hotel and Invercargill Central there are some interesting projects in progress or near completion.

The former and very distinctive AWS Legal building on Spey St has a big digger parked behind the front wall and is making short work of what was there.

Just down the road on Spey Street this section has been cleared ready for development. A source told us that the Ministry of Education plan on relocating to a new building planned for the site.

I know this happened a few months back but what was Cars On Yarrow has gone to be taken over by the GWD group.

Well known car dealer Russell White had Cars On Yarrow for over 20 years and before that Inner City Motors situated where Malloch McLean is now. Remember them ?

Russell always had some top notch cars on his lot.

Judging by the signage GWD’s are getting in to the electric car scene but they’ve painted over that distinctive mural, or murial as Hilda Ogden used to call them……..you had to be there I guess.

Heading down to South City and what was the busy BP South City is no more. It closed back in August, just after it was the target of a robbery.

What lies ahead for the building and section is unclear at this stage.

While some older buildings are or likely to get the chop, around the Bond – Annan St area there has been plenty of new development over the last couple of years.

How about these twin workshop type buildings that aren’t too far away from completion. Looks like more development on the cards adjacent to these two buildings.
