Hi there team and welcome to August and they say it’s going to be a tad colder than usual so let’s jazz it up a bit and revisit the 70’s.

From memory Holyoake, Marshall, Kirk, Rowling (briefly) and Muldoon were our Prime Ministers of the decade. They’re are all gone now.

The month August is named after Augustus, the first Roman emperor. This is all going back a bit in time of course.

Star signs are Leo and Virgo.

Anyway speaking of going back in time. let’s journey back to the 70’s. A decade which saw more than a few clangers when it came to music and some awful fashions when it came to clothes but life was pretty simple.

On the other hand some great songs were released which still get airplay today and here are a couple to get the month ticking over.

First up is one of the biggest songs of the decade from a band that is still going, Boston. Sadly lead singer Brad Delp took his life a few years ago but it was his soaring voice that and Tom Scholtz’ guitar riff that made More Than A Feeling a world wide mega hit.

Second up is Earth Wind and Fire’s Boogie Wonderland, a great track that was released in time for the northern summer of 1979.

Boogie Wonderland features EW&F mastermind and lead singer Maurice White (the late) and The Emotions.

Picture yourself going to a function or party in any of that clobber……still a good song though!
