Mal’s Music Memory – Steve Priest RIP

Hi there team.

Some sad news to pass on. Sweet bass player Steve Priest passed away recently.

Music lovers of the early 70’s would well remember the glam rock band who had a string of hits like Fox On The Run, Action, Wig Wam Bam, Little Willy and Teenage Rampage to name a few.

Looking back it’s easy to see that the band members were much more talented players than the glam image that they portrayed.

Steve was an integral part of the band writing some of their hits and complimenting lead singer Brian Connelly’s vocals.

Steve went on to form his own version of Sweet playing mainly festivals and the like in the US.

However in more recent times video’s show that the ravages of time had caught up with Priest and he wasn’t looking at all well.

Sad to note that of the 4 members of Sweet just one, guitarist Andy Scott survives.

Let’s go back to the mid 70’s and let’s see and hear just how good Sweet was.
