Mal’s Music Memory – RIP “Greedy” Smith, Mental As Anything

Sad to report that we’ve lost another.

Mental As Anything frontman  Andrew McArthur “Greedy ” Smith died after suffering a heart attack.

Greedy was on the road with the current line up of the Mental’s when he past away.

I’m pretty sure that Mental As Anything performed on this side of the Tasman on a few occasions.

I recall seeing them open for someone at Athletic Park Wellington back in the old days, could’ve been Elton John, could’ve been Neil Young, or was it?……no, can’t remember.

The other bout of sad news is that fellow MAA co founder Martin Plaza has not been enjoying the best of health in recent years having suffered kidney cancer and is not playing with the current line up.

Mental As Anything had  a few massive hits in Aust, here and the UK in the early 80’s. This is one of them. Greedy Smith’s Live It Up.
