Mal’s Music Memory – Ric Ocasek RIP – Just Good Songs

Not the best way to start the week with news that The Cars front man Ric Ocasek passed away at the age of 75.

No cause of death has been published at this point.

Originally from Boston, The Cars discovered that the world was waiting for them when they appeared in the late 70’s. Success built on success until they went their own ways in the mid 80’s after the release of Heartbeat City.

Ocasek had a gift for writing catchy pop rock tunes like You Might Think to soulful moody tracks like Drive which became their signature song.

Drive sung by bass player the late Ben Orr, was one of those songs that resonated with near everyone who came in contact with it.

You may or may not know that the young lady in the Drive video later married Ocasek.

The Cars, the band that created and crafted just good songs.

RIP Ric Ocasek.
