What a dark stormy night to wind up the September series of One Hit Wonders on Mal’s Music Memory with our friends at Little Fire Music Works on Dee St

Here’s a blast from the old days, released late 1969 to get to the top the charts around the world early 1970. Norman Greenbaum’s Spirit In The Sky.

The song was re-fired a few years ago when it was used in the Apollo 13 movie but nothing that Norman G did since came remotely close to the success of Spirit.

Want to know how Norman got that spooky fuzz sound? He said he used an old Fender Tele with inbuilt fuzz box. Hayden and Toni at Little Fire Music Works could probably help you out there.

Crank up your music player, whatever that it is and enjoy Spirit In The Sky.

Cheers

Mal

btw….next week it’s Rokinverstober so we’ll haul out some classic album tracks.
