Hi there team.

Last week of May and our last double blast (or is it?) to honour some of the great songs and acts that have come out of NZ over the years.

First up it’s Mi Sex, a band that had one of the most powerful line ups of any band that came out of NZ including Invers keyboard whizz Murray Burns. Mi Sex was definitely the business back in the late 70’s early 80’s.

Murray also had a hand in writing their biggest hit Computer Games which went to No1 in Oz. No small feat for any band from Kiwiland.

If I recall Mi Sex also made headlines at the peak of their powers when they had a wee stoush with then Prime Minister Rob Muldoon. They made some sort of piece by inviting him to a sold out show at the Wellington Hall. He was the short chubby chap sitting in the stalls in a suit and ear plugs firmly in place

They say a great song stands the test of time and Computer Games certainly does that and still gets plenty of air play 40 years after it’s release.

Second up is Space Waltz fronted by Alister Riddell and backed by some top players of the day including Eddie Rayner (Split Enz) and Brent Eccles (The Angels, Street Talk, Citizen Band to name a few). Brent now runs successful promoting and management businesses.

Space Waltz came second on the New Faces TV talent show (who came first?) and more than made an impression on an unsuspecting public back in the black white and grey days of the early 70’s

Out In The Street, another Kiwi classic ……enjoy

Have a great week.

Cheers

Mal
