How’s the week been treating you?

We’ll keep on keepin’ on looking back at the songs that made it big in 1970 – 50 years ago.

First up it’s English band Mungo Jerry who took the world by storm with In The Summertime. Incidentally the song has been rerecorded with Mungo’s frontman and songwriter Ray Dorset and a cast of stars doin’ it all again.

Second up this song was No 1 here in NZ this week in July back in 1970. It’s Russell Morris’s Rachel

I hear that Russell is still doing the rounds over in Oz, his home country. Do you recall his hit The Real Thing? That was certainly not your ordinary pop song.
