Liam MacDonald of Invercargill made a clean sweep of his class at Teretonga Park near Invercargill on Saturday.
The meeting, presented by Downer, saw MacDonald win all five Noel McIntyre Drainage Clubmans Saloon races in his Ford Falcon. Bradley Dawson of Invercargill (Chev Camaro) was second on each occasion with Adam Cullen of Dunedin (Nissan GTR) third each time.
MacDonald was using the meeting to prepare for his defence of the National Class 2 title in the BNT V8’s Championship while Dawson was having his first outing in his late uncle, Colin Dawson’s Camaro. Dawson drove well setting lap times quicker than his uncle had managed just over twelve months ago, albeit on different tyres, while he and Cullen had some good battles throughout the day. In the Class Race MacDonald took Class 4 for cars of 2501cc & over.
Wayne Elliott of Invercargill won Class 3 (1601-2500cc), Jeremy Dawson of Invercargill Class 2 (1301-1600cc) and Todd Blackmun of Invercargill Class 1 (0-1300cc).
The Pro 7 Saloon’s produced the same top three in each of their three races but with a different winner each time. NZ3 Toby March of Christchurch won the first from Sam Wallace of Christchurch and Hunter Rowland of Rangiora before Rowland won the second, a ten lap reverse grid race, from Marsh and Wallace.
Wallace won the third, by .0318 of a second from Marsh and Rowland.
Gregory Scott of Dunedin won all four Sports and Racing Car races with Greg Millane of Invercargill collecting three second places and Robin Williams of Riverton third in each. Dave McKenzie of Invercargill also picked up a second place.
