Invercargill City Council this week released details of an application by McDonald’s Restaurants (NZ) Ltd to construct and operate a new restaurant in South Invercargill, at the corner of Elles Road and Bowmont Street. The physical address of the site is 110-120 Elles Road and 198 Bowmont Street.
The Council has decided to fully notify the application under Section 95A of the Resource Management Act 1991, which means that anyone may make a submission on the proposal.

The proposed McDonald’s restaurant would include a dining area of 77 seats, a drive through facility, and carparking spaces to the east of the site. The restaurant itself would be located to the west of the site, and the access would be situated on Elles Road, near the north boundary of the site. Although a full McCafe and Playland are included with the resource consent application, the franchise holder may instead decide to have a limited McCafe selection and use the Playland space to provide more seating.
