The Lorneville roundabout reopened yesterday (Wednesday March 1st), after undergoing resurfacing work as part of the ongoing improvements to Southland’s road network.
However, drivers are advised to plan their routes carefully over the next two weeks, as resurfacing work is underway on SH6/North Road between McIvor Road and the Lorneville roundabout.
The road will be closed to through traffic from 6pm to 6am each night, with access limited to residents of North Road, Beaconsfield Road, McIvor Road, and Moore Road, as well as local businesses.
Detours will be in place via West Plains Road/Steel Road and Bainfield Road/Mill Road/Flora Road East, with HPMV vehicles directed via SH1 East Road/Mill Road/Flora Road East.
During the day, North Road will be open to all vehicles.
The resurfacing work is an essential part of the ongoing maintenance and upgrade of Southland’s State highway network, and drivers are reminded to take care and follow all signage and instructions while travelling in the affected areas.
The safety of road workers and motorists is of paramount importance, and any delays or inconvenience caused by the road closures and detours will be greatly outweighed by the long-term benefits of a smoother, safer road surface.
