Reece McDonald, a well-known figure in Southland's business and community circles, has passed away suddenly at the age of 47. McDonald owned the Invercargill photocopying business Good Tech, previously operating as Ricoh.
Reece became president of the Southland Business Chamber earlier this year.

In addition to his business contributions, McDonald made a significant impact in the cycling community. He previously served as president of Cycling Southland and played a crucial role in promoting the sport in the region.

One of McDonald's notable achievements was his involvement in the Queenstown to Invercargill Westpac Chopper Appeal. This annual fundraiser, which supports rescue helicopter services, saw McDonald actively participate and assist in organising the event. This year's ride marked his 10th involvement and coincided with the event surpassing $1 million in funds raised across 13 years.
