Opinion: Here is my blunt but fun thoughts on our latest city council poll.
And don’t forget to 1. Vote Mike for ILT, 2.Keep a look out for more Mike & About.
Another council poll completed and a pattern is emerging.
Comparing the two polls we see that the top six have not changed with Let’s Go Invercargill candidates of Allan Arnold, Tom Campbell and Grant Dermody and current councillors Ian Pottinger, Nigel Skelt and Darren Ludlow holding the top six spots (though in different order).
Peter Kett went from zero to hero with his current campaign, calling out some of his fellow councillors: Lesley Soper, Rebecca Amunsden, Darren Ludlow, Alex Crackett for their hypocrisy and ‘the really dumb decisions’ they have made (including Three Waters) Read it here.
In my opinion the stance of the above named on, not voting to join the other 31 councils break away group to fight Three Waters. Is taking it toll on a few of them looking at the polling result.
At the lower end of the top 12 spots, we have Rebecca Amunsden who failed to make the top 12 last poll and has fallen to 17th spot. It’s like voters agree with Becs on ‘leading the change’. With so many new female candidates like Trish Boyle, Ria Bond, and Let’s Go candidate Kerry Hapuku all polling well above her. Lesley Soper like Bec’s isn’t engaging with voters indicating the hunger for change. Alex Crackett has fallen from 9th in our previous poll to 14th.
As I predicted regarding the mayoralty race, Sir Tim is not getting the support for a seat on council either.
Graham Lewis needs to go and spend time with the grand kids.
