The wait is over Southland.

New Zealand’s favourite retailer will be opening its doors to the community of Invercargill next Friday 22 November from 8:00am. The refurbished 4,286 m2 selling floor will showcase a fresh Kmart layout that is being rolled out nationally as part of the company’s commitment to an improved shopping experience for customers.

From irresistibly low-priced everyday products through to brightly lit, easy to shop product worlds across clothing, toys and home. The design includes central self-serve check outs, wider aisles for easy wheel chair and pram access and bolder graphics for navigation, and a more convenient shopping experience.

Store manager Forrest Worthen said that he and the entire store management team felt very privileged to bring this new store to life; showcasing Kmart’s versatile product range in three fun and colourful worlds.

“The community of Invercargill have been patiently waiting for their very own Kmart store and I’m excited to be able to deliver it to them, with the help of my incredibly talented team. A team who have worked tirelessly to provide customers with a beautiful new-look store and an amazing shopping experience,” Worthen said.

Forrest brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the Invercargill team, with a rich Kmart career spanning 27 years. He has been instrumental in preparing for the store’s opening day celebrations, recruiting 102 new team members within the local community and transferring 5 existing team members across from Queenstown and St. Lukes. All team members have undertaken intensive training in preparation for opening day; gaining exposure to a variety of roles and responsibilities, whilst perfecting their customer service skills.

Kmart Invercargill is the fourth store to open by the leading retailer in New Zealand for 2019, with more store announcements to follow next year.
