The Southland Festival of the Arts continues into Week Three with a free event on Sunday that encourages debate and discussion about the future of the Arts in Invercargill.
“Art in the Heart” will pull together different threads about the city’s future arts direction. Janette Malcolm, who has been managing the community consultation on the proposed arts gallery-centre, will reveal what the community has been saying about a new arts complex while Invercargill Mayor Tim Shadbolt will share his thoughts on murals, features that seem to be gaining widespread support and interest.
Kari Graber, the ICC’s CBD coordinator will look at how a city can engage with artists, the public and visitors, by strategic and innovative thinking.
Festival director, Angela Newell, said the 70 minute, free talk-fest would be hosted by the Dan Davin Literary Foundation and offer a panel of speakers who would lead discussion about Invercargill’s arts scene.
Questions from the floor would be welcome.
The event begins at 2pm on Sunday, May 7 at Repertory House, Esk Street.
