Businesses of Roxburgh face disruption due to water and sewerage systems being knocked out – notably Jimmy’s Pies.
“We’ve got regular clients and we can’t make fresh pies to supply them. But hopefully they’ll understand.”
Jimmy’s Pies from Roxburgh are famous throughout the lower South Island. Jimmy’s have been making their meat pies for almost 50 years at the Roxburgh location.
It is still unclear as to when Jimmy’s Pies will be back in action.
SH8 south of the Roxburgh Hydro Dam to Millers Flat remains closed overnight due to yesterday’s flooding and slips in and around Roxburgh. The Transport Agency asks all drivers to take care on the detour route Roxburgh East Road and Teviot Road which also has some damage with debris on the highway.
