An Invercargill shopper is $62,977 richer after a Second Division Lotto ticket sold at Four Square Newfield turned up a winner in Saturday night's draw.
The local result was one of four Second Division prizes from draw 2622 on Saturday September 19. The other winning tickets were sold at Meg Star in Auckland, MyLotto to a Rotorua player, and New World Waimate.
Invercargill's windfall is the highlight of an otherwise scattered night for the region. Powerball went begging again — nobody matched all the numbers — and the jackpot climbs to $8 million for Wednesday's draw. That's the kind of number that tends to send people scrambling for a ticket.
The $1 million Lotto First Division prize went to a MyLotto player from Rotorua, while Strike Four's $400,000 payout landed with a MyLotto player from Auckland. Both online wins, both heading north.
Anyone who bought a ticket for Saturday's draw is urged to check it in-store, on MyLotto, or through the MyLotto app.
