Residents of Invercargill are reminded to be secure their property following a number of burglaries and incidents of cars being broken into over the last two weeks.
Cars parked up driveways have been targeted along with cars parked unlocked on the street or with valuables in plain sight.
“It is important that your property, including farm buildings, fuel tanks and vehicles are secured at night time or when left unattended,” said Detective Sergeant Sean Cairns.
“If you’re away from your house for any length of time, let your neighbours know so they can keep an eye on your property.
When leaving your car make sure it is locked and don’t leave valuable items behind.”
Another top tip to keep your property safe is to record the serial numbers of tools and valuable items, or mark these with an identifier that can be traced to your property.
While Police are committed to keeping the community safe everyone can help with this.
If you see any suspicious activity report it to Police immediately.
