Celebrating first birthday with HIANZ Hire Excellence Gold Award

Invercargill Hire celebrated their first birthday in style, winning a Gold Award for excellence in the hire industry in Rotorua on Thursday, July 6.

The awards concluded a two day conference and celebrated the Hire Industry Association of New Zealand’s (HIANZ) 40th Anniversary.

Achieving the distinction of a Gold Award required significant work by Richard and his team at Invercargill Hire with two audits of the business undertaken. The first audit investigated policy and procedures in areas such as organisational management, documents and data security, environmental management, financial controls, insurances, occupational health, quality management, risk management, employee training and assessment. It also included a site inspection, both indoors and out, an inspection of the equipment and observation of employee presentation, knowledge, service and customer interaction.

The second audit assessed the businesses Health, Safety and Wellbeing policy and procedures, looking at areas such as site directions, contractors and visitors, compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act (HSWA), emergency management, hazards, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), incident/injury/illness, health monitoring, hazardous substances and chemicals.

A Mystery Shopper component was also a key component of the auditing process.

Richard said he entered Invercargill Hire into the awards to gauge where the business was at with regards to others in the industry.

“It was fantastic that we received such high recognition in our first year of operation,” he said.

“The team have put a significant amount of work into the business over the past year, and their hard work and dedication has paid off.”

Invercargill Hire received an impressive score of 91 per cent to achieve gold status.
