If there’s one thing that many Invercargill folk have missed the most during Alert Level 4 Lockdown, it’s the savoury sensations from local bakery and iconic pie brand, Fat Bastard Pies.
But fear not, for with the drop to Alert Level 3, Fat Bastard Pies is back in business with their revolutionary cold pie box delivery service.
The concept was launched on social media last Thursday 23rd April with Fat Bastard Pies owner, James Owen, starring in a parody rap video.
Over 40,000 people watched the video, and online orders for the cold pie box deliveries sold out in three days.
Watch the video:
James said the response blew him away.
“It is humbling to see the amount of support for small business. We really didn’t know what the reaction was going to be.”
James and his team have been baking all week and started delivering pies across Invercargill yesterday.
“We’ve had to operate with a lower capacity so we can maintain social distancing practices in the bakery.”
With a limited amount of pies available, James expected a big rush when they opened the website for more orders last night.
These orders will be delivered next Thursday and Friday within their Invercargill delivery zone.
