A tourism product considered common place in cities worldwide is about to be launched in Invercargill for the coming summer season. An Invercargill cycle service and retailer is to host and guide visitors on cycle tours of the greenways and gardens of the central city.

Cycle Surgery’s Glen Thomson and Alice O’Brien will take turns at guiding tours through the scenic Otepuni gardens, past the worlds Southernmost Basilica, through the greenways past the Water Tower and onward around all 81 Hectares of Queens Park.
Alice says the ride through the centre city and around Queens Park was a natural choice to offer visitors to the city that want to get familiar with the great assets on offer.
“Cycle tours are common place around the world but sadly lacking in New Zealand’s urban centres.
Visitors expect to be offered the opportunity to get out of vehicles and onto a bike for a relaxed guided tour with families and travelling companions.”

Renatta Hardy, Venture Southland Tourism Product Development Coordinator says visitors would like to go for a bike tour, as it is a great way to see more, get closer to the amazing scenery and having a big smile after exploring our beautiful city.
“Visitors will be provided with a bike and all the required equipment to enjoy an in-depth look at the natural beauty and history of Invercargill. The tours are for any age and fitness level with an e-bike option so no one in a group or family has to miss out.”
Initially there will be one tour scheduled a day for the summer but the couple have other cycling oriented products in mind for the future.
