Powerball was not struck in Wednesday night’s draw and has rolled over to Saturday, where the jackpot will now sit at a massive $40 million.
“Powerball has jackpotted to an epic $40 million on Saturday. It’s now the highest it’s been since August last year when an Auckland family scored themselves $44.67 million – the biggest ever Powerball prize won on a single ticket,” says Lotto NZ Head of Corporate Communications, Will Hine.
“High jackpots are exciting, and we know New Zealanders all around the country will be dreaming about what they would do if they won $40 million this weekend,” says Hine. “We’re encouraging our players to remember that big jackpots still have small odds, and one ticket is enough to be in the draw.”
“Stores will be busy on Saturday afternoon, and MyLotto in the evening, so it’s best to avoid those times and get your ticket early,” he says.
While the top prize wasn’t struck, four Lotto players will be celebrating after each won $250,000 with Lotto First Division. The winning tickets were bought in Hamilton, Carterton, Lower Hutt and Invercargill.
The stores where the winning tickets were sold include Gordonton Superette in Hamilton, New World Hutt City in Lower Hutt, Collingwood Foodcentre in Invercargill, and one ticket was purchased online by a player from Carterton.
Also in Wednesday’s draw, Strike Four was won by a lucky Auckland player who now takes home $200,000. Their ticket was sold at Pacific Superette in Auckland.
Lotto NZ is encouraging anyone who bought a ticket from any of the mentioned outlets, or through MyLotto, to check their ticket as soon as possible either in-store, online, or through the MyLotto App.
Lotto NZ returns 100 percent of its profits to New Zealand communities through lottery grant programmes run by the NZ Lottery Grants Board.
