Held at the ILT Stadium on November 4th from 11am to 7pm, highlights include a classical dancer from India, along with a north Indian dance group from Hamilton performing Bhangra and Gidha.
Diwali symbolises a triumph of light over darkness, and is celebrated throughout India and across the world.
It holds profound cultural significance as families come together, light lamps, exchange gifts, and partake in rituals that represent hope, unity, and the triumph of righteousness.
Indian Community Southland president Vinay Sood said the venue will also be transformed into a vibrant tapestry of colours and culture, promising an unforgettable experience with a dynamic Bollywood DJ at the helm, so expect a dance floor pulsating with energy and joy.
There will be number of other local performers showcasing their talent during the day, and visitors will get to experience a gastronomic journey through the rich diversity of Indian cuisine.
A free event and open to everyone in the community, “it’s an opportunity for Invercargill residents to embrace the vibrant traditions of India, fostering unity and understanding among diverse cultures.”
