The Invercargill Licensing Trust is to expand its distribution operation in Queenstown with take over of the Beaver Liquor Wholesale distribution business in the resort.

Trust CEO Greg Mulvey told whatsoninvers.nz that the deal is not a biggie and that liquor distribution has been an historical part of the ILT’s business.

Greg Mulvey says this deal is just a natural extension of what the Trust has already been doing.

He says all they are doing is leasing a small warehouse that will enable it to more effectively distribute to the resort area.

Greg Mulvey stressed the Trust has not bought a liquor outlet. He says the ILT can not hold a liquor license outside the Invercargill city boundary.

He says the profits from the Beaver Liquor distribution business and other distribution interests outside of the city are repatriated back to Invercargill for the Trust to distribute to local community groups.

Closer to home Greg Mulvey says the Licensing Trust has some prime inner city retail space available to lease. This has come about after The Flight Centre relocated to the former Air New Zealand Shoppe on central Esk Street Mall.

Flight Centre had been operating in the Kelvin Hotel building on the Esk – Kelvin St corner for several years.

Greg Mulvey says he’s sorry to see Flight Centre go and wishes them well but says this is a great opportunity for a new business to move into that busy corner site.
