The Invercargill Licensing Trust (ILT) is celebrating 80 years of serving the Southland community. Since its establishment in 1944, the ILT has grown into a major player in the region, contributing over $217 million to local projects and organisations. Related: ILT's Legacy of Community Support

From its early days coming out of prohibition with Australasia’s first licensed café, the Brown Owl, to opening the iconic Langlands Hotel in 2022, ILT’s history is filled with milestones that have shaped Invercargill’s social and economic landscape.

With 23 trading businesses and 37 brands, ILT provides approximately $8 million in donations each year to over 300 organizations. Notable contributions include the Civic Theatre renovation, ILT Stadium Southland, and the Southland Charitable Hospital.
