Autoplex is undergoing a business expansion in Invercargill, with its car parking development opening up a further 10 spaces for customers.
Owner Daniel Blain is working hard to improve capacity at the central located garage on Yarrow Street, and with room for now 22 car parks, the warrant of fitness specialists will be able to reduce the bottleneck at peak trading time.
Ten years ago he bought the business from his parents David and Jenny, and has worked hard to maintain their values, to carry on their original dream of becoming a ‘no-appointment drive in warrant of fitness’ specialist.
Autoplex started with just one WOF hoist and a second one was added in 1995 to meet demand.
Then 10 years later and after some alterations, another was added in 2001, and following the global pandemic, business picked up again and a fourth hoist was added in 2021 - thanks to a Covid-19 business loan.
Acquiring land behind the garage has allowed the car park development to get underway, and in 2026 the building will be upgraded to enable a fifth WOF bay onsite.
An extra WOF specialist/mechanic will be starting on October 6 to prepare for the busy summer season with its peak challenges, and for the new business growth once the expansion is complete.
“We’re focused on improving the service and we are expanding our capability to reduce wait times for a warrant of fitness,” he said.
Daniel said customers should note that 10-3pm was their busiest time, but they were open from 8am so people can drop their vehicles off on the way to work.
They’ll even drop you off to where you need to go, while your car is being worked on - Daniel said it’s all about making life easier and life easier - it’s all part of what they do at Autoplex.
During October Autoplex is giving away a new Breville coffee machine to a lucky customer that comes in for a WOF.
