Auctioneer William Muir comes south once a year and offers a complimentary appraisal of client’s unique collectables - from stunning antiques and fine art to jewellery, historical artefacts and militaria.

He offers people the benefit of selling their treasures for either instant cash or to put them to market at auction.
House of Huia is the only online auction house in New Zealand that specialises in military medals and memorabilia, and William has his own private collection as well.
“It’s the history which I love.”
Southland, in particular, has the highest prevalence of gold fobs given out to WWI and WWII soldiers on their return from war, he said.
He also collects old NZ Rail passes that Government officials such as Members of Parliament were given back in the day.
The former jeweller has an appreciation for beautiful old adornments, and one customer recently brought in a leather box that had a diamond spray brooch inside, that sold at auction for an impressive amount.
“You know with us you are getting trust and experience,” he said.
