Highlights from the four days of track action at SIT Velodrome.
The ever-improving depth of New Zealand track cycling was on display during four days of action at the Vantage Windows and Doors National Track Cycling Championships in Invercargill.
New Zealand track cycling head coach Dayle Cheatley said he had been impressed with what he’d seen at the SIT Velodrome.
“I think there’s been some good quality racing, some performances that we expected, but also some performances from some of the younger ones putting their hand up for this next Olympic cycle, and the nationals is the opportunity to do that.”

A great ride by Corbin Strong in the final of the U19 3000m IP at the Vantage Windows & Doors Elite & U19 Track National Champs. It’s his first year in U19 … and he’s still only 16 … but he pulled out a great ride to qualify second fastest and earn the right to take on Aaron Wyllie (AKL), who would win the heat. But a fantastic effort by Corbin!
