Heavy rain and northwest gales for parts of central and southern New Zealand
An active front moves over southern New Zealand from the Tasman Sea today, then moves slowly over central New Zealand during the weekend.

This front is forecast to deliver heavy rain to western areas, and northwest gales to exposed places.

Forecast: Expect 80 to 110mm to accumulate on top of what has already fallen. Peak rates of 15 to 25mm per hour.
