A passionate group of Southland health professionals have decided to spend their Friday lunch breaks on Hospital corner – to raise awareness about fair pay and equal treatment in the workplace.
There would be many more enjoying a picnic on Kew Road, except they often don’t get a lunch break, and hence why they are part of the 10,000 Allied, Public Health, and Scientific-Technical staff who planned to go on strike last week.
The Employment Court released an interim decision last week upholding the DHBs’ injunction against the strike action planned by Allied health workers.
AT&T Allied Health clinical co-ordinator Stacey Muir said they planned to be on Hospital corner every Friday from 12:30-1pm until the pay negotiations are resolved.
“We are taking some action because the level of frustration is so high,” she said.
