Growth and supporting communities are a key part of business growth and sustainability; these are aspects of business ethos that hold dear to a Southland signwriting company.

Creation Signs’ recent purchase of McDermott Signs is a joining of forces to give Southland businesses more variety and to strengthen existing offerings.

This acquisition brings together the complementary strengths of both organisations and consolidates presence in the design, digital printing, fleeting marking and general signage market across the wider Southland region.

Creation Signs manager Riki Shuttleworth said it was exciting to not only be growing the company but keeping everything local.

“We’re really excited to have welcomed Cliff and Nathan to the Creation Signs team, having come over from McDermotts.

“We’re big believers in working locally and supporting locally, so to be teaming up with these guys as well as being a local funder of many sporting and education facilities means we’re both bringing work into Southland and sustaining it,” he said.

With growth comes the need for additional space; in the coming months, Creation Signs will move into a new, larger, fit-for-purpose facility on Bill Richardson Drive. The new facility offers a unique climate-controlled space to improve their fleet marking service, including drive through access for larger vehicle such as truck and trailer units. These vehicles will be able to drive in and be sign-written undercover, allowing for a quicker turn around. In some cases, this will be offered as a same-day service.

Creation Signs has a long history of being a fervent and loyal supporter of everything Southland. They are long-time sponsors of many sports teams and organisations such as the Southern Steel, Southland Sharks, Southland Stags and Stadium Southland. They also have an extensive history with the Tour of Southland, having entered a team in the Tour for the past 25 years. Most recently, they added the ILT Southland Sports Awards and the YUNCA Junior Tour of Southland to that supporter list.

Community growth has always been important to Creation Signs and continues to be one of the aspects of business which conveys their commitment to the region. The company also provides funding for schools around Invercargill, including Otatara, Waihopai, Rimu and St Theresa’s schools.

“We’re really passionate about our Southland community, and it’s extremely rewarding when we can see all these beneficial endeavours happening in the region, knowing we’ve been part of that process,” Shuttleworth said.
