Southland motor racing fans have another big season to look forward to in 2018/2019.
Six race meetings are scheduled with highlights including the opening meeting of the season which will feature the exotic race machinery of the South Island Endurance Series, the annual Speedworks Events MSNZ Premier Championship meeting in January, the Evolution Motorsport Classic SpeedFest in February and the NZ Super Truck Meeting in March.
The season begins with the Carter’s Tyre Service South Island Endurance meeting presented by Downer on Saturday 15 September. Featuring exotic machinery such as Mercedes, Porsche and Ferrari the racing will feature a 1 Hour and then a 3 Hour Endurance Race.
The next two race meetings presented by Downer, on Sunday 4 November and the next over the weekend of 1/2 December featuring the Noel McIntyre Drainage Clubmans Saloons follow with the full programmes for these events yet to be finalised. Already the December meeting in particular is shaping as a big one with OSCA Super Saloons, Pre 65 Saloons and SI F1600 confirmed with more announcements to come.
The annual Speedworks Events MSNZ Premier Championship meeting takes place over the weekend of 19/20 January with the international line up in the Castrol Toyota Racing Series already confirmed on the programme and other categories still to be confirmed.
The Evolution Motorsport Classic SpeedFest is next over the weekend of 16/17 February with Classic Saloons, Historic Touring Cars, Formula Juniors, Noel McIntyre Drainage Clubmans Saloons and plenty more to entertain.
The season wraps up in March with a huge event headlined by NZ Super Trucks and Mainland Muscle Cars to finish a very exciting season in another meeting presented by Downer.
With international drivers, state of the art machinery, exotic marques, rare classic racers plus the Super Trucks and Muscle Cars Southlanders have a lot of action to look forward to at Teretonga Park this season.
