In a joint statement released earlier today, Gore District Mayor Ben Bell and the Gore District Councillors addressed the recent tensions within the council which had gained significant media attention over the past months.

The statement acknowledged the disruptions caused by the media attention, and the negative impact it had on the relationships between Mayor Ben Bell, Chief Executive Mr. Parry, and the councillors. According to the statement, this scrutiny not only caused distress to the staff but also undermined the community’s confidence in the council and distracted them from their duties.

The Gore District Council has admitted to errors made during this period which have adversely affected Mr. Parry’s reputation and well-being. The elected members expressed their acknowledgement and extended an apology for the anguish caused to the Chief Executive.

The statement also referred to an incident earlier this year, in which there was a breach of Mr. Parry’s privacy that led to public and media attention, causing significant harm to him and his family.

In a positive development, Mr. Parry has accepted the council’s apology.

The Mayor and Councillors used the statement as an opportunity to express their full confidence in Mr. Parry and his abilities. They acknowledged him as a skilled and experienced local government executive who has established a robust management team.

In a mutual agreement, the elected members and Mr. Parry have decided to put their differences aside, work collaboratively, and exert their efforts in rebuilding the trust and confidence that have been damaged in the past few months.

Furthermore, the statement noted that they would not be making any further comments regarding the internal relationships within the council, and instead, they will concentrate on refocusing their energies on serving the community and fulfilling the important responsibilities of local governance.

Residents of Gore District can now anticipate a more unified approach from their representatives as they work towards fostering an environment conducive to community growth and development.

This resolution could mark a new chapter in the Gore District Council’s efforts to better serve its constituents and focus on the crucial tasks at hand.
