The Gore A&P Association this weekend will also be hosting the inaugural Premier show for the Royal A&P Society of New Zealand (RAS).
The Southern District is one of 18 around the country affiliated to the RAS, and have announced a new event for show day, that will hopefully be continued by other shows in future as well.
Major sponsor this year is Carrfields and this will be Gore’s 140th show. Incoming secretary Karla King said there are many exciting new events happening this weekend.
“Entries are going really well, we’re expecting a good show.”
New this year is children’s entertainer Deano Yipadee performing at 10:45am and 1:15pm, a shovelling sand competition by Eastern Concrete, as well as a ‘Big Dig’ for prizes, which is always popular.
Professional MTB freestyle rider Levi Goodall will give a demonstration, and The Cosmetic Clinic will be doing free skin consultations as well as a ‘Spin to Win.’
Another highlight will be the highland games demonstration by Roger Crazy Wolf, horse and carriage rides, face painting, wood chopping and live music by Steve Hamlin among others – as well as the Grand Parade.
The Gore show is also hosting the South Island Hostein competition, and there will be plenty of food trucks, craft and trade stalls as well. All home industry entries need to be dropped off by Friday night.
“We’re excited to be back after missing last year due to Covid,” Karla said.
