Liam Hewitt has been accepted into the Academy Southland Programme for 2020, as one of its Foundation Year athletes.
Academy Southland runs a two-year programme for Southland athletes who aspire to represent New Zealand on the international stage; assisting them with invaluable support around mental skills, nutrition, athlete life and strength and conditioning.
No doubt Liam will gain plenty from involvement with the programme.
All Golf Southland events have been postponed indefinitely. It is hoped that many will be able to be rescheduled later in the year, however with the changing situation, it is unclear if or when that may be able to happen.
Golf Southland is taking advice from New Zealand Golf, who are endeavouring to get some clarity around whether it is safe to play golf or not during this time. It is advised that everyone do everything necessary to stay safe and to adhere to Government guidelines at all time. For information on the golf situation please visit www.golf.co.nz.
