Pippins, Brownies, Guides & Rangers around Southland will be out and about with biscuits again this March. GirlGuiding New Zealand is a registered charity with income that is generated from fees and biscuit sales. The remainder comes from investments, the Guide E-Shop and a minimal amount of government funding.

This year, Guide biscuits have been sold for 60 years and they are embedded in our cultural heritage as a true piece of kiwiana. They have been fantastically popular and are the envy of many organisations.

The GirlGuiding NZ biscuit selling season is easily the largest girl-led business in New Zealand. From selling biscuits girls develop a range of skills including: Goal setting, co-operation and team building, decision making, money management, people skills, customer service, positive values and marketing skills.

By selling biscuits, it is a great lesson for girls that nothing in life comes for free and they learn about earning money to help pay the bills.

The sale of biscuits helps fund the national services that are provided which include: leadership training, girl programme, leader development, membership and participation in Guiding’s international organisation, website and database services, financial and property services, Guide E-Shop, and marketing to grow.

Biscuit stalls will be located in Invercargill on the following dates:

  • Saturday March 4th – Whitcoulls Invercargill (10am-3pm), Countdown Tay Street (9.30am-3.30pm)
