Geeks On Wheels Arrive In The City

A new mobile computer repair service has landed in Invercargill, and the best part is they will come to you to fix any of your technical problems.
Geeks on Wheels has been helping people right throughout New Zealand for 18 years already, having first started in Wellington – originally by just one man at his kitchen table.
Now with branches up and down the country, the fully mobile service also offers customers a personalised journey through advice, education and knowledge about how their technology can benefit them.
The company’s Invercargill-based technician, Vivek Pai has been building and debugging computers since before the internet was cool, and has a passion for helping others.
Marketing co-ordinator Manfred James said the business was all about helping kiwis get as much out of tech as they can – from phones to tablets, to smart TVs and even Wi-Fi.
Helping people, particularly elderly, be secure and safe online is another big part of what they educate people about, and already Geeks on Wheels has held information sessions at SeniorNet Invercargill and local rest homes.
“We’ve gone into people’s homes, their farms, offices and even boats,” he said.
And with their efficient often same day service, many small to medium-sized businesses can pick up the phone and have their tech problems sorted right away.
As a backup, the business also operates a nationwide helpline with priority call back, so customers are never kept waiting for long.
“We have a lot of shared brainpower,” Manfred said.
Geeks on Wheels took over the existing client base from Computer Repairs Invercargill, and as part of its opening week celebrations, will be offering a special promotion.
Keep a look out for the distinctive red and black van driving around the city, and either snap a photo of it, or take a selfie and send it to them on social media, to go in the draw to win an iPad and headphones.
