PHILLIPS, Stephen John:
After a very long illness on Monday 2 March 2026 in the care of Southland Hospital; aged 70 years. Dearly loved son of the late Isabel and Bernard, loved brother and brother-in-law of Gaynor and Charlie, Maureen and Lochie*, Jimmy* and Rochelle. A loved uncle of all his nieces and nephews. SCOTT, Graeme Stuart:
Passed away in the loving care of his family on 2 March 2026 at Southland Hospital. Loved son of the late Stuart and Margaret Scott. Much loved brother and brother-in-law of Yvonne and Russell, Shirley and Jon, Allan and Michelle. A private cremation has taken place. SCOTT, Graeme Stuart:
Graeme was a much loved and respected flatmate of Colin*, Greg, David, Archie*, Paul, Allan, Graeme M*, Kenny, and Mark*. Graeme’s family thank them all for being part of his life and involved with so many special memories. Thank you to all the present and past carers. It was just under 30 years that Graeme was back in Invercargill and in the care of IHC. (*denotes deceased)
SMITH, Gordon Lindsay:
Peacefully, on Friday 27 February 2026; aged 89 years. Beloved husband of the late Jeanette. Loved father and father-in-law of Lindsay and Emily (Christchurch), Maree and Steve Ching (Wellington), Jill and Steve Brett (Christchurch), and Blair and Jane (Oamaru). Much loved grandad of Hamish and Annabelle; Isabella and Scarlett; Olivia and Ashleigh; Charlotte, Henry, and George. Much loved brother of Melva Johnstone (Cambridge). Many thanks to the wonderful staff at Vickery Court Rest Home along with Gordon’s friends for their visits to reminisce about farming, stock agent work, rugby and horse racing. Special mention to Leicester Rutledge for being Gordon’s right-hand man during his time at Vickery Court. A service to celebrate Gordon’s life will be held in the Avenal Park Chapel, 75 Fox Street, Invercargill, on Friday 6 March at 2:00pm. THOMPSON, Bruce James:
Passed away peacefully at Southland Hospital on Saturday 28th February 2026, Aged 79 years. Loved Dad and father in-law of Jenny and Darrin and granddaughters Elly and Zoe. Loved Dad of Corina and granddaughter Alyssa. Loved Brother and brother in-law of Margaret and Colin Walker*, Bill and Maureen, Victor and Linda Thompson. A much loved Uncle to his many nieces and nephews. Jenny and Corina would like to thank their cousin Mervyn for all the care and company he has shown their Dad, and a special thank you to the hospital staff who looked after Bruce. A celebration for Bruce will be held at the Southland Crematorium Chapel, Rockdale Road Invercargill on Wednesday the 4th March at 2pm, anyone wishing to leave a special tribute for Bruce, can do so at mwfunerals.co.nz/s/bruce. TURIPA, Karon Maree (nee Gutsell):
Peacefully at Southland Hospital surrounded by loving whanau on Thursday 26 February 2026; aged 65 years. Dearly loved wife and soulmate of Winston, much loved mother of Tenei and Mana, a much loved Nanny. Loved daughter of Doreen, and John, and a much loved and cherished sister, sister-in-law, aunty and friend. In accordance with whanau wishes a private cremation has been held.
