Unexpectedly at Southland Hospital, on August 26, 2026, aged 84 years. Treasured daughter of Dick* and Dorothy* (Dorrie) Wilks (née Hibbs) and loved sister of Robin Wilks. Beloved wife of Hoeta* (Dick) Simeon, married for 34 years until his passing in 1995. Cherished mother and mother-in-law of Hoeta and Jackie Simeon (Australia), Manu and Marie Simeon (Invercargill), Pania and Russell Coote (Bluff), Aorangi and Michael Black (Bluff), Nepia and Wendy Simeon (Invercargill), Rewa and Allan Shearer (Invercargill), Terina Simeon (Bluff). A devoted tāua to Riki Simeon, Joel Simeon, Haylee Simeon, Casey Black, Rata Shearer, Tane Simeon, Becky Simeon, Sharn Coote, Nepia Simeon, Tiriana Shearer, Joesph Black, Rhys Coote, Kyle Simeon, Georgia Simeon, Zara Simeon, Jayden Black, Aroha Black, Nikola Taylor, Hope Taylor, Jezne Saville, Kassidy Saville and 32 great-grandchildren. Ann was a respected, long-standing member of the Bluff community and the wider Awarua Takiwā, contributing across generations to whānau, hapori, and kaupapa. Ann is lying in state at home in Bluff. She will move to Te Rau Aroha Marae on Monday, 30 August, late afternoon, where friends/whānau are warmly encouraged to visit. A service to celebrate Ann’s life will be held at Te Rau Aroha Marae on Tuesday, 1st September, commencing at 11.00 am. Mark passed away peacefully in the loving care of family and the team at Hospice Southland on 27 August 2026, aged 67. Mark is the loved son of the late Kevin and Betty Ridden (Alexandra). Loved brother and brother-in-law Stephen* Ainsley* and Jill, Christine and Vaughan*, Denise and Harold, Tony and Sharon, David and Chris, and John. A loved uncle, colleague and friend. As per Mark's wishes, a private cremation has been held. A celebration of Mark’s life will be held at a future date when all of the family can be in attendance. WISHART, Norman James:
1932 – 2026 Aged 93 years
Our dearly beloved dad, Norman, passed away peacefully in Gore on 12 August 2026. Julie, Lloyd and Sharon (children with former spouse, the late Elaine Wishart), much loved father-in-law of George and Mike, much loved Grandfather of Olivia and Andrew, older brother to Margaret, former spouse of late Raylene Hore and special friend to Diana O’Neill. Growing up Norman played cornet with the Caversham Band in Dunedin, completed Compulsory Military Training (Navy), and belonged to St. John’s Ambulance. He was a long-term member and Grandmaster of the Masonic Lodge. Norman had his own Engineering business in Dunedin for many, many years building truck bodies, frames, cattle bales, signage, everything and anything. He moved to Southland almost 33 years ago. He enjoyed gardening, playing bowls and croquet. He continued to do odd jobs for local farmers up until his early 80s. The family would like to thank all the dedicated staff of the Enliven Resthaven Village (now known as ‘Phantom’) in Gore for their wonderful care of Norman these last 3 years in the Nursing Home. Norman has left his body to medical science (Otago University). His family will be travelling from Sydney to Gore where a Memorial service will be held on Tuesday 8th September at the Gore RSA Function Room, 12 Bowler Ave at 11.00am.
