Peacefully at home in Kingston on Thursday, January 15, 2026, aged 67 years. Beloved wife, and partner of Ian, and a friend to many. A service to celebrate Jane's life will be held in Kingston Golf Club, 38 Gloucester Street, Kingston on Wednesday, January 21, at 1.00 pm. Peacefully after a short illness. Son of Nella* and Doug*. Brother of John*, Heather*, and Errol (Australia). Loved husband of Ngaere (Invercargill). MAHER, Irene Joyce (nee Moffitt):
On Thursday the 15th January 2026, Irene passed away peacefully in the care of the lovely people at Ribbonwood Country Home. Aged 91 years. Soul mate to Terry*, special sister to Lorraine*, Ermyne* and Earle*, and cherished daughter to Rose* and Hector*. Loving Mum and Mother in Law, to Russell and Kristine, Robyn and Colin, Vivienne and Greg Beaton, Hillary and Tony Waller, Jenny and Simon Broad. And proud Grandma to Hannah, Hayden, Jordan, Laurel, Shenna, Struan, Monica, Conor, Rachel, Caleb, Courtney, Jerome, Andre, Sophie, Jay, Taine and all 19 Great Grandchildren. On Tuesday 20th January, a private graveside service will be held for Irene followed by an informal gathering at the Waikaia Hotel. We wish to invite family friends to join us at the hotel, at 3pm, to share stories and memories of Irene. McLACHLAN, Thelma:
Died peacefully on January 9, 2026 in Invercargill, aged 92. Loved wife of the late Jack McLachlan. A much loved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. In accordance with Thelma's wishes, a private natural burial has taken place. Special thanks to the staff at Peacehaven Care Home for their loving care of Thelma.

Passed away at home surrounded by his loved ones, green pastures & loved animals. Loved & loving partner of Kowhai, Much adored & special Dad to Isabel. Cherished son of Margaret & Tom Reilly (Deceased). Special & very much loved, respected friend & Brother & Brother n law to Andrew & Del, & Fi. A fun & adored uncle of Ruby & Lou. A treasured Nephew & Cousin to family in NZ, Sweden, Scotland & Wales. A collector of special friendships & people, Chris was most of all loyal, positive, witty, fun, adventurous lover of the outdoors, alongside passionate & dedicated farmer. He remained relentlessly positive & strong throughout the unfortunate hand he was dealt. Special thank you to the team of Nurses, Doctors & team at Dunedin Hospital for their support & care. It is with sadness we announce the passing of David Simmers at his home, on Monday, January 5, 2026, aged 85. Dearly loved husband and soulmate of the late Jenny. Much loved father and father-in-law of Jeff and Kath Simmers (Waikoikoi), Kath and Dave Keown (Hāwea Flat) and Alistair and Joanie Simmers (New Plymouth). Much loved grandfather of Tom and Hannah, Ben and Emma, Angus and Kate; Millie and Thomas, Harriet and Rémy and Stella; Amy, Caitlin, Indie, Asher; and great-grandfather of Edward and Lucas. A service to celebrate David's life will be held at Wānaka Presbyterian Church, 94 Tenby Street, on Wednesday, January 21, at 1.30pm. TERRY, Rosemary:
Passed peacefully in her sleep on 11th January, 2026 at Resthaven, Gore; aged 88 years. Dearly loved wife of the late George, much loved Mum of Philip and Pei (Christchurch), Susan and Robert Leggett (Edendale), Lance (Taupo), Jenny and Gary Oakley (Taupo), cherished Grandma of all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. A much-loved sister, sister-in-law, and aunt to many. The family extends their sincere gratitude to the dedicated staff at Resthaven for their kindness and support during Rosemary’s time there.
