Loving father and father-in-law of Aaron, Troy, Natasha and Richard Batt, Wade and Justine, and Quinn. Adored grandad of Riley, Leila; Harry, and Eloise. Loved son of the late Frank and Irene Aicken (Otatara). A loved brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend to the Aicken and Patterson families. A service to celebrate Gary’s life will be held in the Avenal Park Chapel, 75 Fox Street, Invercargill on Tuesday 1 September at 10:00am. Interment to follow at the Eastern Cemetery. Peacefully at home on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, aged 73 years. Much loved brother and brother-in-law of Lynette and *Rod Lovett (Ashburton), Geoff and Sheryl (Riverton); and loved Uncle of all his nieces and nephews. A respected and valued friend of many. Died peacefully on 26 August 2026, aged 89 years. Beloved husband of the late Eileen. Much loved father and father-in-law of Christopher and Fiona, Cushla and Tom Dowling, and Timothy. Loved Grandad of Simon, Nicholas, Maeghan and Natascha and proud Great-Grandad of Lily. A dearly loved father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be deeply missed by his family. Loved brother and brother-in-law of, James*, Lenny and Jannette, Maurice* and Margaret, Danny, Russell, Richard* and Diane, Catherine and David Collison, Mary and Colin Chittock, Brian and Katherine. Loved Uncle of his many nieces and nephews especially Craig for his kindness and support. Our heartfelt thanks to the caring and dedicated staff at Cargill Lifecare Village and Southland Hospice for their compassionate care of our Dad. Dearly loved wife of the late Gordon, much loved mother of Paula & Mark Lipman, David & Sara Jack. Dearly loved Gran of Caleb, & Noah Lipman, Grace, Toby, & Eden Jack. Mary was the last of nine beloved Shepherd siblings and with her passing a generation comes to its close. Loved sister-in-law of Gordon's brothers and wives. Mary passed peacefully in her sleep with family by her side. Thank you to the wonderful staff of Rowena Jackson for their care of Mary over the past nine years. A service to celebrate Mary's life will be held in the Avenal Park Chapel on Friday 28th August at 1.00pm.
