Unexpectedly, but peacefully at her home at Gore, on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, aged 88 years. Loved wife of the late Alan, loved mother and mother-in-law of Breck and Helen, Fraser and Sarah, and Lachlan, cherished grandmother of Elliot and Bonnie. A service to celebrate Shirley's life will be held in the Southern Funeral Home Chapel, 106 Hokonui Drive, Gore, on Thursday, June 18, at 11.00 am, followed by light refreshments, private burial to follow. SMITH, Lois:
Formerly of Gore, latterly of Motueka. It is with much sadness that we announce that Lois passed away at Nelson Tasman Hospice on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, surrounded in the last few weeks by her loved ones. Lois is the love of husband Rex's life. Treasured Mum of Mark and Jackie, mother-in-law to Robyn and Justin, very proud Grandma of Fergus, Lochie, Eliza and Sophia who will all miss her dearly. Loved big sister to Joy Dynes (deceased), Margaret Donald, Jan Bridgeman and Colin Donald. We will deeply miss Lois, the 'glue' of our family. We will be hosting a private gathering for family and friends on Monday, June 15. In lieu of flowers, donations are welcomed to Nelson Tasman Hospice so they can continue to provide the exceptional care that they provided to Lois for other families, also.
