Adored mother and mother-in-law of Nadia & Josh Collins, Kyla & Hamish Allan, Alister* McLean, Tanya & Bruce Eade, Jana & Tim Proffit, and Darren & Jo van Midden. PROUD, Derek. The family wishes to announce the death of Derek Proud, previously of Moeraki and then Kaiapoi, who passed away on Friday, December 28, 2018, aged 89. He was a devoted husband of the late Dorothy (Elaine) Proud. A half brother to Tony Smith in the UK. He was a loving father to his five children: Jennifer, Belinda, Michael, Geoffrey and Christopher. Father-in-law to Kim, Stanley, Rose and José. He has many grandchildren and two great-grandchildren who were all very dear to him. A legend of a man to his family and friends, who finally gave up the fight, and will be missed by many.
