ANDERSON, Struan Robert. Peacefully on Monday, December 31, 2018 at Rowena Jackson Village, aged 94 years. Much loved husband of the late Rita (nee Lindsay); father and father-in-law of Michael and Michelle; Richard, and Philip and Mary. Dearly loved Nandad of Todd and Stancy, Kirstin, Caitlin, Sian and Derek, Jehnna, Max, Jed and Elsie. A service to celebrate the life of Struan will be held in the Winton Presbyterian Church on Saturday, January 5, at 11am, followed by an interment at the East Winton Cemetery. JACOBSON, Lorna Jessie (nee Cumming). Passed away peacefully, aged 88, on Saturday, December 29, 2018, at Summerset Wigram Retirement Village, Christchurch. Dearly beloved wife of John (Jack) Jacobson for 66 years. Much loved mother and mother-in-law of Mark and Anna, Paul and Angela, Ann, Owen and Connie, and Clare and David Clark. Treasured grandmother of Karl, Dana, Sam, Tony, Will, Juscinda, Nadine, Belinda, Rachael, Oliver, and Hamish. Loved great-grandmother of her 7 great-grandchildren. Sister of the late John, Ernest and Mary Cumming. Sister-in-law of the late Colleen and Brian Fitzsimmons, Peggy and Pat Fitzgerald and Eddie and Joyce Jacobson. The celebration of Lorna’s life will be held at Hope Presbyterian Church, 27 Amyes Road, Hornby, on Friday, January 4, at 11.00am, followed by interment at Shands Road Cemetery. McKENZIE, Frances Catherine (Kath). QSM 30.12.1925 – 28.12.2018
Passed away peacefully in the presence of her loving family at Kensington Court, Stoke, formerly of Takaka and Isla Bank, Southland, 2 days short of her 93rd birthday. Loved wife the late Ian McKenzie, and dearly loved mother and mother-in-law of Helen and Denis Mills (Christchurch), Marie and Chris Langford (Stoke), Duncan and Anne (Takaka), Faye and Neil Turnbull (Takaka), and Gael and Graeme Forrest (Merridan WA Australia). Loved sister of Betty Gorrie (Invercargill), and loved Nan and Nana of her 13 grandchildren and Great-Nana to 13 great-grandchildren. A Graveside service will be held at the West Takaka Cemetery, on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 1.00pm, to celebrate Kath’s full and rewarding life, to be followed by light refreshments at the Senior Citizen’s Hall Commercial Street, Takaka. McMEEKEN, Linley Adele (nee Archer). Loved Mother and Teacher. Passed away on December 30, 2018 at Nurse Maude Hospice, Christchurch, surrounded by her family, aged 85 years. Loved mother of Jane, Shelley, Paula, Maryanne, and Mike, loved grandmother of Kate, Luke, and Tessa; Laura, and Emily; Zoe, Will, and Violet, loved mother-in-law and G-ma of Erin, Dave, and Martine, and Kyla. PEDERSEN, Svend Aage (Svend). (Captain, Jutland Dragoon Regiment (Denmark) and United Nations Military Observation Group in India and Pakistan). On December 29, 2018 after a long illness, aged 87 years. Husband of Sonja for 55 years. Much loved father and father-in-law of Lene and Peter (Auckland), Christine and Ole (Melbourne), and Tracey and Karsten (Queenstown). Loved grandfather and great-grandfather of all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Loved brother and brother-in-law of Edith (Canada), Eva, Arne Pedersen, Arne Nielsen and the late Esther and late Else. (Denmark). We would to thank all of those people who cared for and supported Svend during his illness particularly Dr Robert Bester, the staff of Southland Hospital, Hospice Southland, Rowena Jackson and members of the Southland Orienteering Club. A service to celebrate Svend’s life will be held on Tuesday January 8, 2019 at 1.30pm at Fraser & Sons, Cnr of Esk and Doon Sts Invercargill. A private cremation will follow. SPEDEN, Maurice Laurie (aka Curley and Speedy). Passed away on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at Rowena Jackson, Invercargill. Loved son of the late Bob Speden and Sylvia Bradford. Much loved nephew of his ‘second’ Mums, Ann Barrett, Peg Laws and Amy Wilson. Also much loved companion of Margaret Biggar. Loved cousin of the Barrett, Laws and Wilson families. VERNON, George Henry. 42238 Pacific RNZAF WWII. Peacefully at Dunstan Hospital, Clyde, on January 1, 2019, aged 96 years. Dearly loved husband of the late Jen, loved Dad and father-in-law of Glenda and Peter Gallagher, loved Grandad of Karen and Matt, Hayden (Manu), much loved and respected great-Grandad George of Kees, Lily, Paige and Jarnye, and four legged friend Amaia. Much loved ‘Uncle George’ of the Vernon and Hume families.  “A true gentleman.”  At George’s request a private cremation has been held. A celebration of George’s life will be held at Jim Humes, Hanning Road, Earnscleugh, Clyde, on Saturday, January 5, at 1.00pm.
