Unexpectedly but peacefully at Southland Hospital with his loving family by his side on Friday, 12th August 2022, aged 77 years. Cherished and loving husband of Val. Dearly loved Dad of Trevor (Ox) and Jacqui, Neil and Carmel, Alan*, Diane and Scott Sutton, and Allison and Glen Collie. A loved Grandad and Great Grandad. A service to celebrate Ian’s life will be held in the Avenal Park Chapel, 75 Fox Street on Thursday, 18th August at 1:00pm, the service will conclude with a private cremation. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Otago Rescue Helicopter Service would be appreciated and may be left at the service. THOMPSON, Roger Nelson:
It is with great sadness that Paula and Ruby have to tell you all of Roger’s sudden passing on Sunday, August 14, 2022, at Dunedin Public Hospital. Aged 61 years. He was so dearly loved and treasured by us both and he was very thankful for all the love and support which surrounded him from everyone during this last year. Roger was the much-loved youngest son of the late Joe and Gwen Thompson. A loved and admired brother and brother-in-law of Stuart and Helen (Gold Coast), Wendy and Peter (Auckland), Murray and Anne (Melbourne), Paula and Paul (Tauranga). He was a loved son-in-law of Syd and Bev Olive, loved brother-in-law of Vicky (Denver), Michelle and Peter (Invercargill), Clayton and Lou (Edendale). He was a very cool Uncle Rog to the late Reece, Lydia, Emily, Matt and Juliette, Lauren, Austin, Kaleb, Tom, Joshua, Luke, Ella, Tyler, Johanna, Kaitlyn and a very proud great-uncle of Freya, Hudson, and Bump. He was a loved nephew and a loved cousin. A service to celebrate Roger’s life will be held at the Salvation Army Centre, De Joux Road, Winton, on Saturday, August 20, at 11.30am.
